The staff at Econo Lodge on East Castro Valley Rd in Castro Valley serve customers quickly and efficiently. Their prices are competitive. Their location provides easy shopping, dining, and highway access for customers and overflow parking is available at a nearby Park & Ride if needed for more than one vehicle in a party. But, I need to add that it is extremely quiet for travelers who may need to sleep at odd hours. In the East Bay, it would be hard to find greater economy, accessability and shopping convience. AND I take my hat off to the entire staff. My experience was very good here.
The man who checked us in was extremely slow and acted quite odd like he was on drugs. When he arrived, he walked outside with a young gentleman, stating he had to go give him something and came back 5 minutes later. Very odd and it made us wonder if he was doing drug deals. The motel was in a sketchy area so I would not be surprised. I paid $10 extra for a room with a jacuzzi tub and when we tried to turn it on the jets did not work at all. The bed had hairs on it which were obviously not ours. There was a broken chair in the corner and a weird television-radio from the 80's in the bathroom. When I arrived for breakfast, there were 2 donuts on the breakfast tray and that is IT. There was NO coffee. This was such an extremely odd experience. The only thing that helped is that we were completely exhausted so we slept well, I cannot even remember if the bed was comfortable or not.
Not enough covers on their beds. Very over priced. They had stale pastries for breakfast. No coffee mugs; just paper cups.
The place is filthy, front desk is dirty, haven’t been vacuum the rugs for days, bathroom faucet and sink are rusted and dirty, mold on the sink, bathroom floor cracked, tub jets filthy could use bleach to clean it, and found bugs on the beds
Get woken up loudly at 10:30 with a phone call, 10:40 with knocking loudly on door, and 10:50 to come to office. If I wish to stay another night I will be in to pay by 11 or check out. Front desk doesn't know the difference between a credit and a debit card and locked my card so I had to pack up at last minute which of course I was to blame and got attitude. Btw they have 5 Wi-Fi connections I have my own service and all of them made me feel I was on AOL in 2001. Breakfast is a joke, they get 1 box of Krispy kreme donuts and if your not in there by 7:00 you are lucky if you can find a few crumbs to put on a napkin.
