I called and was able to get an appointment the same day. My dog developed a really terrible skin condition. I had gone to a different Vet. for the same condition, the other Vet was pathetic.. This Vet. cured my dog from this condition. I am very greatful for that. I highly recommend this facility. The Vet and staff are very friendly and helpful. Don't hesitate to take your pet here. Thank you Castro Valley Animal Hospital !

Friendly staff, open late and timely. Flea Rx and administration for cats is expensive. Rarely interact with the Vet directly but the staff is helpful enough.

If you love your pets, I strongly recommend avoiding this place. I normally don't write reviews like this but I would hate for anyone's pets to be harmed because their health isn't CVAH's primary concern. For my last visit I took my cat in because she threw up grass but then ate her breakfast and was playing/acting normally...but I wanted to be sure.

They brought me out a $900 bill and told me she needed x-rays, full blood work-up, an overnight stay, a catheter, plus two injections and take-home medications. When I asked why this was necessary, I was told "I didn't want to ask the doctor because he might get offended." When I asked what they were looking for with $300 blood work, I was told "We don't want to tell you because you might Google it and scare yourself."

Dr Brar is horrific! I had to call the police to get my cat out and had paid my full bill the day before. He was angry when I questioned the procedures I was charged for. Thief!! Do not take your animals here. Check the Yelp reviews. Horrible man!

I paid $450 of the bill and got two second opinions who told me I'd been sold on unnecessary treatments. CVAH intentionally over-treats to make money and will not attempt to justify it. Also, I've been going there for over a year and got blood-work done twice - both times I had to call 3+ times over the course of a week to get a response. Please consider Canyon up the street instead.

Also - please note that they were closed and recently reopened under new ownership. Other vets in the area have told me the turnover from this place is really high.

What a horrible man and what a bad rip off for poor clients.

Please do not go there.

I took my toy poodle there while on vacation because he developed a rash.while I was in the exam room waiting for the vet,I overheard the vet tell his staff in the back that they are not doing enough lab tests and wanted them to push it all the time.I was horrified to hear that and wanted to go elsewhere but the vet told me that he will still charge me exam fee even if I did not get an exam because I wasted his time.I paid his fee but did not let him touch my dog and went to the clinic just up the street.
